How it works
1. Connect Your Storage
Create a free Cloudflare storage account and upload your images. IPTC metadata is automatically read from every image.
2. Manage & Publish Your Archive
Your Photoindex dashboard lets you organize galleries and collections, edit captions and metadata, and control what's published. Pages are generated and hosted automatically on your own domain.
3. Images Get Found
Your images surface in Google and Google Images. Visitors arrive on your domain, see your work, and contact you directly.

Search Engine Indexing
Every image gets its own page in Google's index — on your domain. Automated structured data, image sitemaps, and full creator and rights metadata on every page.
Full Image Ownership
Your images are hosted on your own Cloudflare storage account. No vendor lock-in, no proprietary formats. Download everything, anytime, for free.

About Photoindex
Make your archive work harder.
Most platforms want to become the centre of your workflow. They ingest your files, wrap them in proprietary formats and make leaving painful. That model doesn't work for independent photographers.
Founded by former photojournalist turned developer, David Brabyn, Photoindex is deliberately minimal and focused on the needs of independent photographers: maximum discoverability, full file ownership, no lock-in, and a low flat price. Nothing more.
There is no social feed, no algorithmic curation, no marketplace commission. If you cancel tomorrow, nothing about your archive changes. Your files stay in your bucket. Your metadata stays in your IPTC headers. The only thing that disappears is the indexing layer.
Simple, flat pricing

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from a portfolio site? expand_more
A portfolio site showcases your best work — it's curated, designed, and meant to impress clients. Photoindex does something different: it makes your entire archive discoverable in Google. Every image, gallery, and collection gets its own search-optimised page with full metadata, so picture editors and researchers can find your work directly through search and browse your entire collection. The two work well together.
Do I need a Cloudflare account? expand_more
Yes — Photoindex uses Cloudflare R2 because it's the best fit for photo archives: storage is free up to 10GB, there are no fees for serving images to visitors, and your files are delivered from a high-performance global edge network so pages load fast everywhere. Setting up an account is free and takes a few minutes — we walk you through it step by step. Your images stay in your account, under your control, always.
Where are my high-resolution files stored? expand_more
In your own Cloudflare R2 storage account. You retain 100% ownership. Photoindex never ingests your original files into a closed system or even touches them — we serve separate optimised, watermarked versions for web indexing. Your originals are never modified or exposed.
Does Photoindex protect my images from AI training? expand_more
Your originals are never served publicly — only watermarked, web-sized renditions. Every page blocks known AI training crawlers (GPTBot, CCBot, Google-Extended) while keeping search engine crawlers like Googlebot active. That means your images still appear in search results — including AI-powered search — but are opted out of model training. Full copyright and licensing metadata is included on every page. No protection on the internet is absolute, but Photoindex applies every technical measure available today.
Is there a limit on how many images I can have? expand_more
No. Whether you're indexing 1,000 or 100,000 images, Photoindex charges you the same flat fee. Your only variable cost is your Cloudflare storage — free up to 10GB, typically a few dollars a month beyond that.
What happens if I cancel? expand_more
Your images remain in your Cloudflare storage — they're yours, always, whether you're a Photoindex subscriber or not. There's no lock-in, no export fee, no proprietary format. Annual plans are refunded for unused months.
